Your First Retina Visit at Back of the Eye MD
What to Expect on Your First Visit.

Note: You can expect to be with us for a total of 1-2 hours during your first appointment.

Check In

Step 1: Check In

Arrive at Back of the Eye MD sm (Get Directions). Check in at the front desk with the receptionist and present your insurance card. You will need to fill out some easy health history and general information forms. A technician will review these forms with you.  Co-payments are due at the time of check in.Back to the Top
 
Dilation of Pupils

Step 2: Dilation of Pupils

Most often, eye drops will be administered which will dilate your pupils.
This painless step will blur your vision for about 3 to 4 hours.

Doctor's Exam

Step 3: Doctor's Exam

The doctor will perform a complete examination, and any testing which may be necessary.

Exam Results

Step 4: Exam Results

The doctor will discuss her findings and recommendations with you, and answer your questions.

Prior to Your First Appointment:

Plan to bring to your first appointment and all subsequent visits up-to-date…

Note: If you do not have prescription sunglasses, bring the sunglasses you normally wear.  Eyes may be sensitive to sunlight.  You may want to make arrangements for someone to drive you home.


Please call 24 hours in advance if you will miss your appointment or need to change it.
If you have pre-school child care needs, please call our office in advance to make arrangements.

After Your First Appointment:

PLEASE NOTE: Due to the eye drops which will dilate the pupils of your eyes, you are very likely to be sensitive to sunlight or any light. We strongly suggest that you bring sunglasses and consider bringing a driver if necessary.
