Keep your eyes safe this 4th of July!

Happy 4th of July!

We hope you have a great holiday with family and friends!

This Independence Day, please remember to keep your loved ones safe by leaving the fireworks to the professionals.

There were over 1,800 eye injuries related to backyard fireworks last year. Chemical and thermal burns, corneal abrasions, and retinal detachments are some of the many injuries that can result from home fireworks, ultimately affecting your vision. Keep you and your family safe by staying behind the safety barriers at firework shows and stay away from unexploded fireworks — these are still very dangerous and your local fire department should be contacted immediately when found.

If there is an eye injury from fireworks you should contact your doctor immediately. Do not rub, rinse, apply pressure, or remove any objects from the eye. Also, do not take any pain medications until cleared by your doctor. Keep your eyes safe this year!

Happy 4th of July!
