Over the weekend of September 8 and 9, Dr. Notaro was fortunate to chaperone the Greater Buffalo Youth Orchestra (GBYO) retreat in Dunkirk, NY!
The GBYO provides the opportunity for talented high school musicians to play beautiful pieces of music from the classical and romantic eras. The orchestra plays multiple concerts in the Buffalo area each year. The orchestra also plays alongside the BPO every year at Kleinhans Music Hall. The GBYO has completed international tours to Spain, Italy, Austria, and Prague, as well as domestic tours to Rochester, Toronto, Philadephia, Baltimore, and Boston.
During the retreat, Dr. Notaro and the students rehearsed the music for the orchestra’s upcoming season. They also had fun participating in activities such as scavenger hunts, games of limbo, and even square dancing!
